100K Water Sizzles?
I keep a little butane powered BBQ in my 4WD because nothing beats parking somewhere ridiculously scenic and cooking up a storm… So I set it up in my studio and heated a fry pan until it glowed in the dark, and then used a syringe to drip water for near instant vapourisation! I love the erratic skittering movement & shot it at 120fps too so will post some slowed down video in the next few days, but for now if you’d like to have a play with the sounds please grab a copy of this little library.
I recorded some of these for SD012 ENTROPY but that was over a decade ago, and the Sanken CUX100K mics hadn’t been invented yet.
I am releasing this library free for anyone, as while I absolutely appreciate every one who financially supports HISSandaROAR, I also know very well how it is to be skint, while also being time rich and keen AF to explore intricate sonic worlds… My only request is if you make something interesting with these sounds I’d love to hear it – send me a link to listen sometime!
Recorded 32 bit 192kHz to Sound Devices MixPre10- II recorder with Sanken CUX100K pair. Released 24bit 192kHz with photos and UCS metadata.
