I’m not sure how these old AHOOGA horns work but they tend to make people smile rather than being startled… I’ve been waiting for a calm windless day to record this and last Sunday got the Chev out & drove to a quiet suburb to do some recording.
First I turned the engine off and performed a series of toots, but I noticed that somehow the horn didn’t reach as high a pitch as when the engine is running! This maybe due to current draw, although the car has a new fully charged battery… So I also performed some toots with the car idling – thsoe recordings are included as is, plus a version with engine idle removed via RX.
Captured with MKH8050 close to the horn and MKH8040 pair a cable length away, included in this little library is:
Ahooga Horn Toots – no engine
Ahooga Horn Toots – engine start, idling, toots, off
Ahooga Horn Toots – toots with engine idle removed using RX
