After recording the SINK MONSTER FX032 I decided to see how many drain access points I could put a microphone into. By gently running a tap in the laundry & in the bathroom, I captured a total of four with close and distant perspectives. I then ran the dishwasher in the kitchen and captured the parts of its cycle when it ejects water, which creates some great gurgles.
Long pipes have such strange acoustics, and with trickling water to activate them, an interesting ambience is created. Useful as ambience elements for labs, public toilet, kitchen, gutters, drains and spot ambiences in rain scenes.
Recorded 32bit 192kHz with Sennheiser MKH8040x2 and MKH8020x2.
