I have no idea what the intended purpose of these pipes was. Each pipe was riveted to a circular metal plate, so it could be set down like a small table… but picking it up the rattle of all the pipes moving together seemed interesting, so I took it home from the junk store.
While it was still intact I performed moves & shakes & rattles & hits, and then as I got more aggressive, one by one each pipe broke free. So I then captured single hits & also hits lobbing one into the air so it could briefly ring as it spun & moved…
Next I put them all in a light cloth bag & recorded bunched impacts & rattles, but I think the most interesting & useful sounds occurred when I scrunched the bundle tightly & performed while forcing the pipes to move under pressure. Have a listen to the preview – in a similar way to the FX028 Bamboo Bundle bunches of similar props add an interesting, tight complexity.
