Do normal people have issues like this?
I needed some ice for a project so bought a couple of big bags, but started playing with crunching it & then decided to record it…. Then spent so long recording it, it all melted & I had to go get more for the original purpose!
The first sound I thought would be useful is as per ordering champagne on ice in some swanky restaurant. At the start of recording the ice was too solid so I let it melt a bit, recorded, let it melt more, recorded and then let it turn into slush & recorded a third version, performing with a full bottle and an empty one for extra glass resonance.
Meanwhile I also recorded some ice moves – dropping a weight into ice, stabbing it & also performing sustained movement. The last sounds involved blowing gritty air bubbles into the slushy ice…
Recorded 32bit 192kHz using a pair of Sennheiser MKH8040 Mics as well as a Sennheiser MKH8050, this new Unit FX library is now released 24bit 96kHz with full UCS metadata & photos of each setup.
