A sequel to UFX016 PIPE BELL this heavy metal pipe was rescued from OVERFLOW junk store and was originally a section of pipe from a well. As with my parents farm, Canterbury is an alluvial plain with a water table accessed by farms for both drinking water & irrigation.
Suspended this pipe ‘rings like a bell’ and accordingly was played using:
– soft woven mallet
– heavy rubber mallet
– hard wood mallet
– metal percussion mallet
Multiple full ring outs were captured with each mallet, as well as dampened variations.
Recorded 32bit 192kHz with Sound Devices MixPre10-II and Sanken CUX100K mics and MKH8050 microphones
Released 24bit 192kHz with full UCS metadata and photos of each setup.
