Whenever I’m in a junk store, one category of sounds I am always searching for are props that sound vintage. Having worked on a few period dramas I fully appreciate the unique sonic challenges presented by the genre. So when I picked up this old vintage torch, my ear was instantly alerted. The glass lens is held in place by a screw in front, both of which have a characterful rattle that sounds old…
Loosening the elements made it even more sonically active, so I have captured a library of foley-ish handling, disassembly & reassembly, and sustained rattles – randomised and performed in rhythms.
The latter I imagined as though it was on a horse or cart, or a solders pack.
Recorded 32bit 192kHz using Sennheiser MKH8040 LR, Sanken CUX100K LR and MKH8050 C, this new little library is released 24bit 96kHz with full UCS metadata and photos.
