While this old wardrobe was intact, it looked and sounded quite solid, but it only took a few hours to turn it into rubble and firewood!
Unfortunately it was too big to get into my studio so I had to wait many weeks with it partially blocking my front door, until the weather calmed down…
At last a sunny windless day arrived, so I set up with MKH8040 pair exterior and MKH8020 pair inside the wardrobe, capturing subby resonance.
Before I did any structural damage, I performed hits & impacts on every surface and then dragged it, rocked it side to side and dropped it…
Then I used a pair of Vibe Guns on each surface, with soft beater & hard.
And then it was time to start breaking it apart, using a large rubber hammer & a crowbar!
Once it was reduced down to wooden panels & planks, I used an old bookcase (with the MKH8020 inside) as leverage to break more wood.
Then another ‘home entertainment’ wood cabinet got broken part…
Once I had a pile of wooden rubble, I recorded lots of takes throwing wooden planks onto the bookcase…
And then used the vibe guns on the pile of wood!
Captured 32bit float 192kHz means all the peaks and transients are preserved. This practical FX library is released 24bit 192kHz with UCS metadata and photos.
