While the whirr of an air ratchet wrench is an iconic sound in its own right, this library captures a dozen different workshop air tools. Each tool was operated handheld – revs, short runs, sustained – at a range of speeds as the compressor’s air tank slowly emptied.
Classic whirrs were performed with high pressure while some uniquely idiosyncratic sounds were to be had with very low pressure – at times unstable and intermittent, oscillating tiny revs and cartoon-ish putt putts… Two resonators were also used – wood & metal – functioning to both scale the sound via resonance passed to a LOM Geofon, and to provide a surface for friction grinds & moves.

Recording 32bit 192kHz with a MixPre10-II using six mics:
Sanken CUX100K x2 + Sennheiser MKH8040x2 + Sennheiser MKH8050 + LOM Geofon
A mixed version of each is also included, copmbining all six mics.
This is a huge creative resource for practical sound effects, as well as robots & other high tech mecha movement. Some of the grinds, graunches & friction are especially useful due to the lack of motor noise.
