We LOVE recording with contact microphones! This new library is the sequel to SD008 and together the pair represent some of the most diverse, organic sounding source material that we've released so far. If you are new to contact mic recording then the basic techniques & technology are outlined in this earlier article
Props for the new library include: a koto/guzheng, a steel brazier, bowed & beaten acoustic guitar, two metal sheds – pounded, scraped, beaten & freshly dented, a dishwasher, a juicer, a disassembled wheelbarrow, two trolleys, body panels on an Isuzu 4WD, one sliding window, two detached window frames, a raw pane of glass & three antique vases, a square metal pipe & a 1980s angular speaker stand, a pseudo caribbean steel drum played with a large hollow metal ball, a socket set…
For more details on techniques and set up, please see this blog post: The First Rule of Contact Mic CLub
