FX034 GATE SLAMS

While I was visiting my nephews farmm recording lambs & sheep, I noticed their covered yards and when I had a break I set up my mics and recorded gate slams.
Mostly the gates and yards are mounted onto large wood poles, so I managed to capture impacts & slams:
– wood to wood
– wood to metal
– metal to metal

While the yards are covered and protected from rain, they do not have walls so the sound does feel exterior, with no noticeable interior verb or slap.

We used these in a scene in Black Sheeps film and played up loud they have sharp attack & heft, work well for practical gate effects as well as elements for impacts, stings etc…

Recorded 32 bit 192kHz with Sanken CUX100K microphone pair and Sennheiser MKH8040 pair and MKH8050 to Sound Devices MixPre1- II.
Released 24bit 192kHz with photos and UCS metadata.
