Using sticky tape as a sound generator – rips, tears, zips, ratchets, flaps, wumps.
Freely held in front of the mics, plus attached to wood, plastic & metal resonators
Gaffer tape, and two widths of sellotape were used.
The noise aspect of these sounds means they respond well to processing & cut through busy mixes.
Particular attention was paid to dynamic moves past the mics – useful for fast passbys & projectile whizzes.
Recorded 32 bit 192kHz with Sanken CUX100K microphone pair and Sennheiser MKH8040 pair to Sound Devices MixPre1- II. Released 24bit 192kHz with photos and UCS metadata.
