This really is an ambience library with plenty of HISS! White water occurs whenever a river's gradient increases enough to disturb its laminar flow and create turbulence, resulting in a bubbly, aerated and unstable current where frothy water appears white.
My first recordings for this library were at the Aratiatia Rapids which are usually completely dry due to diversion for a power station, but four times a day they open the flood gates for tourists (& sound recordists!) to marvel at the sheer power. Nearby is also New Zealands largest waterfall, Huka Falls, through which Lake Taupo exits at a rate of 220,000 litres per second! Both of these locations provide incredibly dense & powerful roars, but when it comes to layering ambiences to create interesting composites often it is detail that is required. So I have also recorded another five smaller waterfalls (in the remote Ureweras of New Zealand and one in Kobe, Japan) along with a number of mountain streams and rivers recorded in close and wider perspectives, allowing you to scale the white water elements to suit your situation.
Each ambience in the library is delivered 24 bit 96kHz with multiple mic and contains a minimum of three minutes duration for each location, with up to five minutes if the ambience is particularly interesting & variable…
